Hypox Cleaning Ovens

The HYPOX® unit is a safe, efficient, two step, hydrolysis based polymer removing process for metal and ceramic parts alike. The basis for the cleaning process is two superheated steam phases, followed by an oxidation phase.

Polymers such as polyester and polyamides tend to reticulate as they reach higher temperatures, making it even more difficult to remove them. The superheated steam during the hydrolysis stage breaks down the molecular chains of these polymers and allows for the vaporization of the polymer in an oxygen free environment, eliminating the risk of combustion or explosion. As a result, this method avoids the buildup of gels and carbon residue on the pieces being cleaned. The hydrolysis action guarantees homogenous heating of the parts erasing the possibility of distortions or deformations. The cleaning process is also equally effective on polyolefin.

The HYPOX® system does not produce toxic fumes or any solids to be disposed. Waste water is able to be disposed of to a sanitary sewer in most cases. There are no added remediation costs.

The following are examples of the type of components able to be cleaned using HYPOX®

  • Assembled Filter Housings
  • Filter Candles and Segments
  • Assembled Spin Packs containing metal, sand, or quartz
  • Spinnerets with circular or shaped holes
  • Gear Spin Pumps
  • Extruder Screws, Heads, Manifolds
  • Plastic Injectors and Moulds
  • Ceramic Spinnerets and Discs

The HYPOX® cleaning ovens can be designed for various sizes and quantity of parts. A longer unit can be used for cleaning extruder screws or a shorter double basket unit can be made for spinnerets and pack parts.

MOVEngineering will also clean your spinnerets free of charge in order to demonstrate the effectiveness and advantages of HYPOX® over standard cleaning processes.
